Roma Start Strong Against Como in Serie A Matchday 6

Roma began brightly at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia, creating the clearer chances in the opening 17 minutes of their Serie A Matchday 6 meeting with Como on Sunday.

Paulo Dybala tested the Como goalkeeper as early as the sixth minute, arriving in the centre of the area to meet Donyell Malen’s pass, but his low left-footed effort was saved. Roma then came even closer five minutes later when Lorenzo Pellegrini struck the right-hand post from outside the box after Manu Koné had supplied him.

Como had shown attacking intent before that spell of Roma pressure. Nico Paz was denied by a low save after Kaiki sent him through down the left, while Lucas da Cunha had a shot blocked and Trevoh Chalobah sent an attempt from distance over the bar.

Roma find openings without a breakthrough

Pellegrini remained central to Roma’s early attacking work. His effort from outside the area was blocked after Wesley’s contribution, earning the visitors a corner. From the resulting pressure, Pellegrini delivered into the area for Mario Hermoso, whose attempt from a central position cleared the target.

Koné then tried his luck himself in the 17th minute, but his right-footed shot from outside the penalty area rose too high.

The match had started with Roma looking to release Malen behind Como’s defence, although the forward was caught offside from Gianluca Mancini’s early through ball. Como’s Yan Couto conceded a foul on Koné in the opening minute, while Kaiki was later brought down by Marten de Roon in Como’s defensive half.
