Roma’s work resumes in earnest at Trigoria as Gian Piero Gasperini turns from the international break towards Sunday’s demanding visit to Como, where Cesc Fabregas’ side will await at the Sinigaglia.
The coach is set to have his full group back between today and tomorrow, allowing the final days of preparation to take shape after a fragmented week. Mancini, Ghilardi, Lulli, Pisilli, Ndicka, Koné, Koulierakis and De Marzi have already returned to the capital and are due to rejoin the squad in training today.
Rodrigo Mora, who was involved with Portugal’s Under-21 team yesterday, is expected back shortly. The Argentine contingent of Soulé, Balerdi and Castro should complete their return tomorrow, bringing an end to the international absences before the league programme resumes.
There is encouraging news on the fitness front, too. Donyell Malen and Wesley each spent part of yesterday’s session working with the group, putting both players in line to be available for the trip to Como.
Lorenzo Pellegrini has also completed his recovery and is now the leading candidate to join Paulo Dybala and Malen in the attacking unit. In midfield, Marten de Roon is expected to take the place of the unavailable Cristante, as Gasperini seeks continuity when Roma’s season returns to its Sunday rhythm.
