Aryna Sabalenka has booked her place at the 2026 WTA Finals in Indian Wells, becoming the second singles qualifier for the November season finale after world No. 1 Elena Rybakina. It will be Sabalenka’s sixth straight appearance in the elite eight-player event at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
The match
There was no single qualification match to win, but Sabalenka sealed her spot through a season built on deep runs across the calendar. The Belarusian has contested five finals in 2026 and collected three titles, beginning with the Brisbane International before completing the Indian Wells-Miami WTA 1000 double.
Her Grand Slam record has also powered her Race position. Sabalenka reached the Australian Open final and the US Open final, while making the Roland Garros quarterfinals.
The qualification carries added significance after last year’s championship match, when Sabalenka faced Rybakina and was edged out in the final. Sabalenka was also runner-up at the 2022 WTA Finals, losing the title match to Caroline Garcia.
Only Agnieszka Radwanska has previously matched six consecutive WTA Finals singles appearances since 2003, having qualified each year from 2011 through 2016.
The next round
Sabalenka will return to Indian Wells in November for the WTA Finals, joining Rybakina in the field. The event brings together the top eight singles players and top eight doubles teams in the PIF Race to the WTA Finals standings.
A Grand Slam winner ranked between No. 8 and No. 20 can claim the final available place in either race. The Finals use a round-robin stage before the knockout rounds, with the singles winner receiving the Billie Jean King Trophy and the doubles champions lifting the Martina Navratilova Trophy.
