Serie A Clubs Unite for Save the Children Hunger Emergency Appeal

Serie A’s seventh matchday will carry a message beyond the result as the league returns to the field in support of Save the Children’s hunger emergency campaign. From Friday 16 October to Monday 19 October, every Serie A Enilive club will take part in an appeal for donations to provide therapeutic food, safe drinking water and medical treatment for children facing hunger worldwide.

The initiative places the league, its clubs and its coaches alongside Save the Children during a round of fixtures that will unfold across Italian stadiums. Supporters will be invited to contribute through the campaign while the usual rhythm of a championship weekend continues around them.

Quick facts

  • The campaign will run throughout Serie A’s seventh round, scheduled from 16 to 19 October.
  • Campaign videos will be shown on stadium big screens before and during the matchday programme.
  • A dedicated “#EmergenzaFame” graphic will air on television shortly before kick-off in every match.
  • Serie A coaches will make the appeal in post-match interviews and wear Save the Children stickers on their jackets.
  • Donations of €2, €5 or €10 can be made by SMS or landline call to 45583.

The appeal comes against a global picture in which malnutrition remains linked to almost half of all deaths among children under five. In the first years of life, inadequate nutrition can also cause permanent harm to health and development.

Only one child in three who needs nutritional support currently receives it. Conflict, poverty, climate-related crises and reductions in aid continue to leave millions of families unable to secure enough food for their children.

Fans can support the programme by calling or sending an SMS to 45583, with €2, €5 and €10 donation options available. Contributions can also be made through Save the Children Italy’s website.

The campaign is backed by Lega Calcio Serie A, the Italian Football Coaches Association and the Serie A Enilive coaches. Their involvement will give the matchday a shared voice, with the post-game interview area becoming part of the appeal as well as the place where coaches assess another weekend in the season.
