Juventus return to Continassa with Cagliari next on the horizon, as Luciano Spalletti begins to gather his squad again after the international break. The coach resumes work today following three days away, initially with Gleison Bremer and the smaller group of players who did not join their national teams.
Juventus begin preparations for Cagliari
- Spalletti restarts training at Continassa with Bremer and the available Juventus players, turning attention towards the meeting with Cagliari.
- Most of the 12 internationals are expected back in Turin tomorrow after three weeks of national-team commitments. The returning group includes Guglielmo Vicario, Zeki Celik, Pape Sarr, Douglas Luiz, Teun Koopmeiners, Edon Zhegrova, Pierre Kalulu, Francisco Conceicao, Nick Woltemade and Kerim Alajbegovic.
- Nico Gonzalez and Lucumi, involved with their South American national sides, are due to report back on Thursday.
Alajbegovic to be assessed on his return
Kerim Alajbegovic comes back from Bosnia and Herzegovina duty after an encouraging spell, having scored against Wales. However, he did not take part in his country’s final match of the break.
Head coach Sergej Barbarez chose not to risk the former Salzburg player after he suffered cramp in the previous fixture, preferring caution rather than allowing a minor issue to develop. Juventus’ medical staff will examine Alajbegovic once he is back in Turin.
Confidence from international duty
The break also brought positive moments for Koopmeiners and Zhegrova. Koopmeiners scored directly from a free kick for the Netherlands, while Zhegrova converted a penalty for Kosovo.
Those returns offer Spalletti a number of encouraging individual notes as Juventus move from the fragmented rhythm of international football back into the weekly demands of Serie A. The work at Continassa now centres on restoring the group, monitoring the late arrivals and preparing the side for Cagliari.
