Torino left Parma with a 3-0 victory that carried more weight than a single Monday night result. After beating Udinese 2-1 in their previous outing, Abate’s side made it two consecutive wins and reached 10 points, level with Allegri’s Napoli. Parma, meanwhile, remained on four points alongside Udinese, Genoa and Fiorentina after another home evening that ended in whistles from the Tardini stands.
Torino set the terms before half-time
The visitors established control almost immediately. Four minutes had passed when Braganca worked the ball out to Belghali on the right, and the full-back’s delivery found Giovanni Simeone in the area. The Argentine struck first time to beat Corvi and register his first goal of the season.
Parma had a clear chance to respond five minutes later. Valeri’s ball travelled across the Torino box towards Touré, who was close to goal but could not apply the decisive touch.
- In the 19th minute, Mandragora picked out Pietro Comuzzo, whose header was blocked by Fabbian before it could trouble Corvi.
- Torino doubled their advantage in the 24th minute. Simeone’s attempt fell into Ché Adams’ path, and the forward finished after continuing his run into the box.
- The goal was checked for a possible offside, but VAR confirmed that Adams’ position was legal.
Even with the two-goal lead, Torino continued to press high. Parma did create a sequence of opportunities before the interval, though Perri ensured the scoreline stayed intact. Romero tested him at the near post after being found by Fabbian, while Delprato’s pass almost released Fabbian inside the area. From the resulting pressure, Diego Carlos headed centrally and Perri collected without difficulty.
Perri then survived a costly-looking error with his feet. Delayed by Romero’s pressing, his attempted clearance reached Touré, but the Parma player struck directly at the Torino goalkeeper. Bernabé later sent a searching cross towards Delprato, whose effort did not find the target. The hosts went in at the break two down and met by clear disapproval from their supporters.
Parma’s recovery brought no reward
Gilardino changed his side at the interval, replacing the booked Diego Carlos with Drobnic and sending on Lontani for Fabbian. Parma played with greater urgency after the restart and threatened to make the contest more difficult for Torino.
- Touré headed narrowly wide from another Bernabé cross.
- Lontani, supplied by Valeri in the 50th minute, curled a right-footed effort just over the bar.
- Two minutes later, Perri pushed away Bernabé’s left-footed shot from distance.
- Romero came close again in the 62nd minute, meeting Valeri’s cross in the box and sending his effort past Perri’s right-hand post.
It was Parma’s strongest spell, but it ended with the decisive Torino strike. Lontani misjudged a bouncing ball in midfield, allowing Belghali to regain possession and release Simeone. The forward carried the ball towards the edge of the penalty area before driving a right-footed shot into Corvi’s top corner in the 69th minute.
Simeone’s double seals Torino’s away night
Simeone’s second goal ended Parma’s realistic hope of a comeback, although the home side continued to push. Frigan, introduced for Touré in the 71st minute, forced another save from Perri with a shot aimed at the near post five minutes later.
The Croatian appeared to have reduced the deficit in the 81st minute. Diallo drove down the right, beat Cacciamani and delivered a low ball for Frigan, who got in ahead of Coco to score. VAR intervened again, however, and the goal was ruled out because Frigan had been offside at the beginning of the move.
Torino therefore completed a clean 3-0 win at the Tardini, led by Simeone’s brace and Adams’ first-half finish. For Abate, it was confirmation of a side gathering momentum after successive league victories. For Gilardino and Parma, the defeat was their second by three goals this season after the loss to Inter, and the final whistle brought protests as well as whistles from the Curva Ducale.
