Roberto De Zerbi is turning to a familiar remedy as Tottenham attempt to halt a bleak start to the Premier League season: take the squad away, close the doors and rebuild some togetherness.
The move
Tottenham will travel to Marbella for a training camp immediately after Saturday’s Premier League trip to Manchester United, scheduled for 18:30.
The Spurs begin the sixth round at the foot of the table with two points. De Zerbi has chosen southern Andalusia, where temperatures of around 25°C are forecast, as the setting for a short break from London and a focused period with his players.
The camp is intended to prepare Tottenham for the home meeting with newly promoted Coventry on 19 October. It also offers De Zerbi time to work with a group reshaped late in the summer transfer window.
- Savinho
- Tosin Adarabioyo
- Mykhailo Mudryk
- Omar Marmoush
All four arrived late in the market, adding to the challenge facing the Italian coach as he tries to establish cohesion in a newly assembled squad.
The French season around it
De Zerbi used similar retreats during his spell in charge of Marseille, where he coached from 2024 until February 2026. He regularly viewed the camps as a way of tightening the bond inside the dressing room during demanding stretches of a season.
Marseille travelled to Mallemort, in the Bouches-du-Rhône, in November 2024, before another group stay in Rome in April 2025. Marbella now becomes the latest version of that approach, with Tottenham needing a response after their difficult opening weeks.
