Toulouse Claim First Ligue 1 Win as Tengstedt Hits Double Against Le Havre

Guillaume Restes had already been handed a first France call-up. On Saturday night, Toulouse’s goalkeeper gave himself another reason to remember the week, keeping Le Havre at bay before his side broke through for a first Ligue 1 win of the season.

Toulouse beat Le Havre 3-2 at Stadium de Toulouse on matchday five, with Casper Tengstedt scoring twice in two second-half minutes and Jorgensen adding the decisive third. The result took TFC to five points.

Quick facts

  • Toulouse claimed their first league victory of the campaign, beating Le Havre 3-2.
  • Casper Tengstedt scored in the 48th and 50th minutes.
  • Jorgensen supplied Tengstedt’s second goal and scored himself in the 78th minute.
  • Le Havre remain on two points after five Ligue 1 matches.
  • Le Mans also secured a first win, 2-1 against Lorient, while Angers defeated Troyes 2-0.

Le Havre had controlled much of the first half and should have been ahead before the interval. Their Samatta-Maja-Fofana combination repeatedly unsettled Toulouse, but Restes was decisive.

Rayan Fofana, on loan from Lens, was denied twice by the Toulouse goalkeeper, first from a tight angle in the 13th minute and then with a left-footed effort three minutes later. Restes also blocked a close-range Maja attempt with his head shortly before half-time.

That resistance changed the tone after the restart. Touba fouled Jorgensen in the area and Tengstedt converted the resulting penalty in the 48th minute.

The Danish forward struck again almost immediately. Jorgensen headed the ball back across goal at the far post and Tengstedt finished the move to make it 2-0 in the 50th minute.

Le Havre found fresh energy through the introductions of Mwanga, Nakamura and Koffi. Nakamura’s cross allowed Maja to cut the deficit in the 70th minute, while Seko went close to an equaliser five minutes later.

Toulouse instead found space in transition and Jorgensen restored their two-goal cushion in the 78th minute. Samatta scored in two attempts in the 88th minute for his second goal of the season, but Restes made another important late save from Nakamura in stoppage time to protect the points.

Elsewhere, Le Mans ended their wait for a Ligue 1 victory with a 2-1 home success over Lorient. Angers were more comfortable, winning 2-0 against Troyes on their own ground.
