Truist Park Takes Lead in Postseason Home-Field Wins

October can turn a familiar home park into a pressure cooker, and the record book shows which clubs have made the most of that edge. Truist Park has moved to the top of the postseason home-winning list after Atlanta’s Wild Card Series win over Philadelphia, while Yankee Stadium and Dodger Stadium are back in the Division Series spotlight with long October histories behind them.

Key takeaways

  • The Braves own the best playoff home mark among ballparks with at least 20 games, going 15-7 at Truist Park.
  • New York swept Boston in the 2026 American League Wild Card Series, lifting the Yankees’ record at the current Yankee Stadium to 33-21.
  • Atlanta beat the Phillies twice in the National League Wild Card Series and now heads to a Division Series against the Dodgers.
  • The original Yankee Stadium remains the all-time leader with 101 postseason victories by a home club at one venue.
  • Dodger Stadium has hosted 71 Los Angeles postseason wins and 30 World Series games, more than any active park.

Atlanta reached the 20-game threshold in dramatic fashion. Austin Riley’s three-run homer in the eighth inning of Game 1 against the Phillies carried the Braves to a 5-3 victory, their 14th postseason win at Truist Park. Two nights later, Atlanta finished the Wild Card Series with a 6-2 decision and earned its trip to Los Angeles. The Braves had already built a formidable home October reputation, winning nine straight postseason games there from the 2020 NL Wild Card Series until Houston took Game 5 of the 2021 World Series.

The Yankees have two entries in the top 10, an appropriate reflection of an October tradition that spans two buildings. The first Yankee Stadium hosted what amounted to a full season of playoff dates, despite the postseason consisting only of the World Series until 1969. New York won 26 championships while playing in the old park, and its 101 home playoff wins there stand alone as the most by any club in a single ballpark.

The newer Yankee Stadium made its own immediate mark when New York clinched the 2009 World Series against Philadelphia in Game 6. The Yankees also completed Division Series wins there in 2010, 2012 and 2022, captured AL Wild Card Game victories in 2017 and 2018, and sealed the 2025 AL Wild Card Series in the Bronx. The latest chapter came with two lopsided wins over the Red Sox in the 2026 Wild Card Series.

Old October stages, new postseason noise

Shea Stadium’s 26-13 mark carries the weight of two defining Mets championships. The 1969 club finished its World Series run with a Game 5 home win over Baltimore. In 1986, the Mets survived Game 6 when Bill Buckner’s error delivered a 10th-inning walk-off, then rallied from a 3-0 deficit in Game 7 two nights later to beat Boston. At Citi Field, the Mets have played .500 postseason baseball, going 8-8.

Busch Stadium II was home to generations of Cardinals stars, from Bob Gibson and Ozzie Smith to Albert Pujols. St. Louis reached six World Series during the park’s run, and five of those series went the full seven games. The home side won three of those Game 7 contests, including the Cardinals’ 6-3 victory over Milwaukee in 1982.

Citizens Bank Park was especially lively during the Ryan Howard, Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins years. Philadelphia went 11-3 during its 2008 title run and wrapped up the World Series with a 4-3 home win over Tampa Bay. The Phillies have again become a regular October presence since 2022, giving a newer roster its own chance to play before the charged South Philadelphia crowd.

Baltimore’s Memorial Stadium years covered much of the franchise’s golden era, with Brooks Robinson and Cal Ripken Jr. among the stars connected to that stretch. The Orioles secured the 1966 and 1970 World Series at home. In the 1966 clincher, Dave McNally and Dodgers ace Don Drysdale each went the distance, with Baltimore taking a 1-0 decision. The club has not found the same home postseason success at Camden Yards, where it is 7-13.

The Giants have carried a strong October record through the various names of their waterfront home. San Francisco clinched the 2012 and 2014 National League Championship Series there, although each of its three World Series titles this century was secured away from home: at Texas, Detroit and Kansas City.

Dodger Stadium trails only the original Yankee Stadium in total postseason games played, and it leads every active ballpark in that category, ahead of Fenway Park. Its ledger includes 30 World Series dates. The Dodgers did not have their usual home setting for most of the 2020 championship run, as the final three rounds were staged at neutral sites, but Chavez Ravine has supplied plenty of signature nights. Los Angeles finished the 1963 World Series there against the Yankees, and Kirk Gibson’s Game 1 homer in the 1988 World Series remains one of baseball’s enduring October images.

More recently, Freddie Freeman’s walk-off grand slam helped the Dodgers win the opening two home games of the 2024 World Series before they completed the championship on the road. Freeman supplied another walk-off in the club’s first World Series game at Dodger Stadium in 2025, this time ending it in the 18th inning.

Comerica Park rounds out the top 10 despite Detroit never having clinched a World Series there. The Tigers did finish off the 2006 and 2012 ALCS at home, both sweeps. Magglio Ordóñez’s walk-off homer ended the 2006 clincher.

Just outside the top 10 are the Cardinals at Busch Stadium III, 26-18 (.591); the Royals at Kauffman Stadium, 24-17 (.585); the Red Sox at Fenway Park, 51-37 (.580); the Diamondbacks at Chase Field, 16-12 (.571); the Reds at Riverfront Stadium, 17-13 (.567); the Guardians at Progressive Field, 35-27 (.565); the Twins at the Metrodome, 13-10 (.565); and the Astros at Daikin Park, 36-29 (.554).
