Three days after England’s 3-2 defeat to Spain, Thomas Tuchel has reached for a new defensive shape ahead of Tuesday night’s Nations League trip to Czechia.
Tuchel reshapes England side
- England were beaten 3-2 by Spain on Saturday evening, prompting Tuchel to alter three members of his back four for the second Nations League matchday.
- Jarell Quansah, Ezri Konsa and Nico O’Reilly drop to the bench for the 20:45 kick-off in Czechia.
- Trent Alexander-Arnold comes into the starting team, making his first England start since October 2024.
- Trevoh Chalobah and Lewis Hall also enter the defence as Tuchel makes his near-total overhaul at the back.
- The only other England change sees Morgan Rogers selected ahead of Jude Bellingham.
Rogers will join Bukayo Saka and captain Harry Kane in England’s attacking trio from the opening whistle.
Lyon connection in Czechia selection
Czechia have made four changes from the team that lost 2-1 to Croatia on Saturday.
Lyon midfielder Pavel Sulc starts for the hosts, alongside Adam Karabec, his former team-mate at OL. The pair provide a Ligue 1 thread to a night in which England arrive looking to recover quickly from their loss to Spain.
