Germany’s road to hosting UEFA Women’s Euro 2029 is beginning to take shape, with the qualifying calendar laid out across 2028 and the finals provisionally pencilled in for a summer running from 4 June to 29 July 2029.
UEFA has informed its member associations of the proposed schedule for the qualifying competition, alongside plans for the second edition of the UEFA Women’s Nations League. The draw for the Euro 2029 qualifying phase is currently scheduled for 2 November, ahead of a campaign that will open early in 2028.
The route through 2028
- The first two matchdays of qualifying are set to be played between 22 February and 4 March 2028.
- Matchdays three and four will follow from 4 to 15 April 2028.
- The fifth and final qualifying round is scheduled for 29 May to 6 June 2028.
- Teams that do not secure direct qualification will move into the play-offs.
- The first play-off round draw is due to take place on 23 June 2028, with those ties to be staged between 2 and 10 October.
- A second play-off draw is planned for 13 October, before the decisive matches from 21 November to 2 December.
Germany remain in the competitive system
As hosts, Germany are already assured of a place at the Euro 2029 final tournament. Even so, the German team will take part in the qualifying programme because UEFA’s format operates as a continuous competition, with promotion and relegation linking its stages.
That participation also keeps Germany in contention to win the UEFA Women’s Nations League and to reach the women’s football tournament at the 2028 Olympic Games through that competition.
The exact dates for the Euro 2029 finals have not yet been formally finalised, but the current framework places the tournament in Germany between early June and late July 2029.
