Capitals’ Andrew Cristall Fined $2,250 for Cross-Check on Flyers’ McDonald

Washington Capitals forward Andrew Cristall has been fined $2,250.86 for a cross-check on Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Hunter McDonald during Monday’s preseason game in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Second-period penalty brings maximum fine

1. The incident came with 12:50 remaining in the second period of NHL Preseason Game No. 20 on Sept. 21.
2. Cristall was assessed a major penalty for cross-checking McDonald, along with a game misconduct that ended his night.
3. The NHL Department of Player Safety issued Cristall a $2,250.86 fine, the largest amount permitted under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
4. The fine will be directed to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
