New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart could miss the remainder of the season after Tuesday testing revealed a more serious knee injury than the team initially feared.
Dart is now facing the prospect of season-ending surgery, a major blow for the Giants after the quarterback left Monday’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams on New York’s opening possession.
Early assessment pointed to MCL issue
Giants head coach John Harbaugh said after the Rams game that Dart’s injury appeared to be in the range of an MCL sprain. Further examinations, however, raised greater concern about the condition of the quarterback’s knee.
Dart was hurt when he absorbed a heavy hit during the first drive of the game and was unable to continue. The Giants now await a decision on whether surgery will be required, with the outcome potentially ending his season.
