The Miami Heat are moving early to keep Pelle Larsson in the rotation, reaching agreement with the guard on a four-year, $60 million contract extension.
Larsson, 24, is coming off his strongest NBA season, posting a career-best 11.4 points per game for Miami. The new deal gives the Heat a longer runway with a developing perimeter player who has earned more responsibility on both ends of the floor.
From second-round pick to Heat extension
Larsson entered the league as the No. 44 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, selected by the Houston Rockets before his rights were routed to Miami in a three-team trade.
He has since turned that draft-night transaction into a meaningful role with the Heat. His scoring jump last season helped establish him as part of Miami’s young core, and the extension signals that the club sees further growth ahead.
Strong summer for Sweden
Larsson also carried a larger offensive load during the summer in 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifying. He averaged 26 points across four games, highlighted by two 31-point performances against Slovenia and Finland.
Those international outings followed the best scoring season of his NBA career and add another marker to Larsson’s rise heading into the next Heat campaign.
