Jacksonville could be without starting left tackle Anton Harrison for an extended stretch after he was slated for arthroscopic knee surgery, while New England running back TreVeyon Henderson is expected to miss multiple games with a high ankle sprain.
Harrison’s surgery carries a wide recovery range
Harrison’s timetable will depend on the findings during the procedure. The Jaguars’ left tackle could return in three to five weeks, but a more serious issue discovered by the surgeon could push his absence into the three-to-four-month range.
- Harrison is entering his fourth season as Jacksonville’s starting left tackle.
- The Jaguars selected him in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
- The club will await the surgical evaluation before setting a firm return date.
A lengthy absence would force Jacksonville to reshuffle its protection on the blind side, making the outcome of the surgery especially significant for the offense.
Henderson expected out multiple weeks
Henderson suffered a high ankle sprain in Sunday’s victory over the Raiders and is projected to miss multiple weeks. He is not expected to require surgery.
The injury removes Henderson from the Patriots’ backfield rotation for the immediate future after he was hurt during the win. New England will need to manage its rushing workload until he is cleared to return.
Roster moves around the league
- Safety Kaevon Merriweather was promoted from the practice squad to an active roster.
- Quarterback Brady Cook was signed to a practice squad.
- Running back Jarquez Hunter was released from a practice squad.
