Julian Strawther Out Indefinitely as Nuggets Await Six-Week Knee Check

Denver’s second unit took an early hit Friday, with guard/forward Julian Strawther ruled out indefinitely after he sprained his left knee in Wednesday’s preseason game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Nuggets expect Strawther to be part of the bench rotation this season, but he will not have an immediate timetable for a return. The club said he will be checked again in six weeks.

Strawther, 24, appeared in 57 games for Denver last season and supplied 7.2 points per night. He also played twice during the postseason, when the Nuggets were eliminated by Minnesota in the opening round.

The Gonzaga product has made 18 starts since Denver selected him with the No. 29 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. His absence removes a wing-sized scoring option from the group expected to work behind Denver’s starters as the regular season approaches.
