Lazio left the Allianz Stadium with a 3-0 victory over Juventus on Sunday night, turning a controlled Serie A Matchday 7 performance into one of the early season’s most emphatic away results. Oliver Provstgaard set them on their way before Gustav Isaksen and substitute Fisayo Dele-Bashiru finished the work, while Juventus were unable to turn a series of openings into a route back into the contest.
Lazio take command in Turin
- Juventus began with intent, earning corners in the opening stages and testing the Lazio goalkeeper in the fifth minute when Kerim Alajbegovic struck from outside the area after Douglas Luiz’s pass.
- Douglas Luiz then sent a long-range effort narrowly wide following Weston McKennie’s lay-off, while Randal Kolo Muani had a shot blocked inside the Lazio box.
- Lazio grew into the match through their set pieces and wide deliveries. Gustav Isaksen headed wide from Kenneth Taylor’s cross shortly after the half-hour.
- The breakthrough arrived in the 37th minute. After Isaksen’s attempt had been blocked and Lazio won a corner, Mattia Zaccagni delivered from the flag and Oliver Provstgaard headed into the right side of the Juventus goal.
- Juventus repeatedly saw attacks halted by offside calls involving Kolo Muani before the interval, and went into the break one goal down.
Juventus push, Lazio punish
Juventus changed personnel at half-time, with Nick Woltemade replacing Alajbegovic, but the hosts could not find the decisive final action. Lazio’s Nuno Tavares briefly required treatment early in the second half before continuing, and Zaccagni was booked for a dangerous challenge.
- Juventus created two notable opportunities around the hour mark. Woltemade curled a right-footed attempt just wide after Kolo Muani led a counterattack, while Nico González also missed the target from the right of the area after another Kolo Muani pass.
- Lazio responded with pressure of their own, winning consecutive corners after efforts involving Nuno Tavares. Their second goal came in the 66th minute, when Tavares supplied Isaksen, who drove a low left-footed finish from the right side of the penalty area into the far corner.
- The visitors were forced into a change shortly afterwards as Kenneth Taylor went off injured, with Dele-Bashiru taking his place. Andrea Pinamonti also entered for Tijjani Noslin.
- Juventus sent on Edon Zhegrova and Francisco Conceição in the 67th minute, followed by Andrea Cambiaso and later Jérémie Boga. Conceição forced a low save in the 84th minute, while Kolo Muani headed over from close range and later fired wide in stoppage time.
- Lazio retained their threat on the break. Pinamonti nearly added a third himself in added time, placing an attempt just over after another Tavares-led counter.
- The final goal arrived in the 89th minute. Pinamonti carried the counterattack forward and set up Dele-Bashiru, who finished right-footed from inside the area to make it 3-0.
Key moments from the Allianz Stadium
- Provstgaard opened the scoring with a 37th-minute header from Zaccagni’s corner.
- Isaksen doubled Lazio’s advantage in the 66th minute, assisted by Nuno Tavares.
- Dele-Bashiru completed the result in the 89th minute after Pinamonti’s assist.
- Juventus registered early pressure and several second-half attempts, but were repeatedly caught offside and could not convert their best chances.
- For Lazio, Taylor’s injury led to Dele-Bashiru’s introduction; the substitute then capped his evening with the third goal.
- Kenneth Taylor and Mattia Zaccagni were booked for Lazio.
For Juventus, the evening became a difficult reminder of how quickly a match can slip away when promising possession does not become goals. Lazio, by contrast, showed clarity at both ends: they made their set piece count in the first half, took their opportunities after the interval and closed the night with the ruthlessness of a side comfortable in the rhythm of the championship.
