Majo Aguilar and Oakland native MXKA will handle the pregame anthems when the Minnesota Vikings meet the San Francisco 49ers in the 2026 NFL Mexico City Game on Sunday, Nov. 22.
Aguilar will sing Mexico’s national anthem, while MXKA, pronounced “MOH-kah,” will perform the U.S. anthem before the 7:20 p.m. CT kickoff at Estadio Banorte. The game begins at 8:20 p.m. ET.
Aguilar, a prominent contemporary Música Mexicana performer, arrives with three Latin Grammy nominations in the Best Ranchero/Mariachi Album category and back-to-back Premio Lo Nuestro honors as Mexican Music Female Artist of the Year. Her work combines mariachi traditions with newer influences, including on her Mariachi Mío project, and she has performed at Mexico City’s Zócalo and Teatro Metropólitan as well as at Canelo Álvarez’s bout in Riyadh. Her music has surpassed 533 million streams worldwide.
“I’m very happy to have the opportunity to sing the Mexican National Anthem,” Aguilar said. “Mexico is a beautiful country with a rich culture. I appreciate the NFL inviting me to take part in such a meaningful occasion and giving me the chance to represent my country. Being Mexican fills me with pride.”
MXKA brings a personal connection to both the host city and the 49ers’ Bay Area roots. Born in Oakland to a mother from Mexico City and a father from Louisiana, the singer-songwriter describes her sound as R&B Tumbados, combining Música Mexicana storytelling and instrumentation with contemporary R&B. Her single “La Vuelta” helped raise her profile, and her work has received notice from Spotify, Billboard, KQED and Remezcla.
She has previously performed an anthem during Telemundo’s official 2026 FIFA World Cup coverage. MXKA’s bilingual recordings reflect her Black, Mexican and American background.
“Singing the U.S. National Anthem in Mexico City with the 49ers on the field brings together so many parts of my own story,” MXKA said. “I was born in Oakland, my mother is from Mexico City, and I’m proud as a Blaxicana artist to bring both my Black and Mexican heritage to a stage of this size. I’m grateful for the NFL’s trust and eager to share this with fans in Mexico, the Bay Area and beyond.”
Halftime show and broadcast plans
The Warning, the Mexican rock band announced Aug. 31 as the game’s halftime headliner, will perform during the Vikings-49ers matchup. The Mexico City concert is one of seven American Express-presented halftime shows scheduled across the 2026 International Games, which will span seven countries and four continents in the NFL’s largest single-season international slate.
Both anthems and the halftime performance will air live in Mexico on TelevisaUnivision’s Channel 5 and ESPN.
“Majo Aguilar and MXKA each have deep and meaningful ties to Mexico, and we are thrilled to feature them before kickoff in Mexico City,” said Tim Tubito, the NFL’s senior director of event and game presentation. “Their performances under the lights at Estadio Banorte will help launch the league’s return to Mexico City.”
The game will add to the NFL’s international regular-season history. The league has played 62 regular-season contests outside the United States, with previous host cities including London, Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Madrid, Dublin, São Paulo, Mexico City and Toronto.
