Miguel Rojas Leaves Dodgers’ NLDS Game 3 With Back Discomfort

Miguel Rojas left the Dodgers’ Tuesday night NLDS Game 3 against the Atlanta Braves with lower-back discomfort, creating a late-game concern for Los Angeles as the series moved toward Wednesday’s Game 4 in Atlanta.

A defensive play brought the issue into focus

Rojas appeared to hurt his back while finishing off the fifth inning at second base. Atlanta had two runners aboard when Ronald Acuña Jr. sent a ground ball toward Rojas, who handled it cleanly and made the throw to first to end the threat and keep the Dodgers in front.

  • The play came with two Braves runners on base in the bottom of the fifth.
  • Acuña’s groundout allowed Rojas to strand both runners.
  • Rojas stayed in the field through the end of the seventh inning despite the discomfort.

Edman takes over in the eighth

The Dodgers made the change after Shohei Ohtani opened the top of the eighth with a walk. Rojas was due up, but after a short stoppage, he was removed during the plate appearance.

Tommy Edman came in to hit for Rojas and then moved to second base for the bottom half of the inning. Rojas finished his night 0-for-3 with one strikeout.

Game 4 awaits

Los Angeles will return to the field Wednesday for NLDS Game 4 against Atlanta. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET, or 3 p.m. PT, with the game airing on FS1, FOX Deportes and FOX One.
