Germany’s Nations League camp moves from the Netherlands fixture to a meeting with Greece, and the change in goal will provide the clearest alteration. Jürgen Klopp confirmed that the Besiktas goalkeeper will play, while making clear that ter Stegen’s standing has not been diminished. The Germany coach said he remained “extremely satisfied” with the Barcelona keeper’s work and stressed that the decision was unrelated to ter Stegen’s contribution in the previous game, against Xavi Alonso’s side.
The goalkeeper rotation comes amid a short international window in which Germany are also examining the attacking options around Karim Adeyemi. Klopp spoke warmly of the young forward despite the chances he did not convert against the Netherlands, pointing to both his potential and the need for continued development.
Adeyemi has already produced “some very good moments” for the national team, Klopp said. For the coach, the forward’s pace offers Germany a particularly valuable route forward: few players, he noted, can sprint towards a ball at such speed while still retaining the choice of going either right or left.
For ter Stegen, it is a pause rather than a verdict. For Nübel, Greece offers an opportunity to make his own mark, while Germany continue to weigh the blend of experience, speed and room for growth that will shape their Nations League campaign.
