RC Lens Set for Standard Liège Friendly During International Break

RC Lens will use the long international break to work behind closed doors, with Standard Liège due at La Gaillette for a friendly on 2 October as Yannick Cahuzac looks to put his ideas into place.

The Sang et Or arrive at the pause after a 2-1 defeat at Monaco on Friday, a result that has left them with four points from their opening five Ligue 1 matches. With no league fixture for three weeks, the new Lens coach has identified the period as an important chance to establish his principles on the training ground.

Standard Liège test arranged

Lens will face Belgian side Standard Liège, currently sixth in the Jupiler Pro League, in a private match at the club’s training centre. The game will not be open to supporters.

Cahuzac will not have a full squad available, however, as several players are expected to be away on international duty. Skoras, Ivanovic, Ganiou, Risser, Mesloub, Sima, Antonio, Sagnan and Bulatovic are among those set to miss the Standard fixture.

Lyon await after the break

The friendly will provide Lens with their final match preparation before Ligue 1 resumes. Cahuzac’s side return to competitive action on Friday 9 October, when Lyon visit Stade Bollaert-Delelis for an 8.45pm kick-off.

After a stuttering start to the campaign, the break offers Lens time to reset before a demanding home night against OL.
