Roma Fear Muscle Injury for Manu Koné After Real Madrid Exit

Roma’s demanding run has taken another turn after Manu Koné left the match against Real Madrid with a suspected muscle injury to his left leg.

The French midfielder was forced off in the 17th minute, becoming the latest major concern for Gian Piero Gasperini at a point in the season when Roma’s resources are already being tested. Koné left the field visibly distressed, in tears and with his shirt covering his face, suggesting the problem could keep him out for a significant period.

Medical examinations are scheduled for Thursday and will establish the extent of the injury and the likely recovery timetable. Until then, Roma must prepare for the possibility of being without another regular starter.

A growing injury list for Gasperini

Koné’s setback follows the absences of Bryan Cristante and goalkeeper Mile Svilar, leaving Gasperini with further selection pressure in the middle of an intense sequence of fixtures.

The timing is particularly awkward. Roma return to Serie A action on Saturday against Genoa, before welcoming Slovan Bratislava to the Olimpico on Tuesday 20 in the Champions League.

For Gasperini, the immediate task is not only to assess Koné’s condition but also to preserve balance in a side that must continue its league campaign while managing another European night in Rome.
