Harry Kane moved within two matches of Cristiano Ronaldo’s Champions League scoring-streak record after striking twice in Bayern Munich’s 3-3 draw with Norway’s Viking.
The Bayern forward has now scored in nine consecutive appearances in Europe’s leading club competition. Ronaldo remains alone at the top after finding the net in 11 straight Champions League matches for Real Madrid during the 2017-18 campaign.
Kane has become the fourth different player to reach a run of nine successive Champions League games with a goal. Ruud van Nistelrooy first achieved the mark for Manchester United in 2002-03, while Robert Lewandowski did it twice for Bayern, across the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.
Champions League consecutive scoring runs
| Player | Club | Season | Consecutive matches scored in |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cristiano Ronaldo | Real Madrid | 2017-18 | 11 |
| Ruud van Nistelrooy | Manchester United | 2002-03 | 9 |
| Robert Lewandowski | Bayern Munich | 2019-20 | 9 |
| Robert Lewandowski | Bayern Munich | 2020-21 | 9 |
| Harry Kane | Bayern Munich | 2026 | 9 |
| Cristiano Ronaldo | Real Madrid | 2013-14 | 8 |
Kane’s double against Viking kept Bayern’s European night level on the scoreboard but extended an individual sequence that now sits alongside the competition’s most sustained scoring runs. Two more scoring appearances would take him level with Ronaldo; a third would give the England striker the record outright.
