Under the Stade de France lights, France needed one precise moment to break open their match against Italy. Michael Olise supplied it on Friday night, bending a free-kick beyond Gianluigi Donnarumma to give Les Bleus the lead.
The Bayern Munich right winger struck after Rayan Cherki had nudged the ball into a better position. From the set piece, Olise sent his effort towards Donnarumma’s top-left corner, with the ball clipping the crossbar before dropping into the net.
It was a high-class finish from the former Crystal Palace player, providing the breakthrough in a tight France-Italy contest and giving the home side an early advantage at the national stadium.
